Textbroker UK – Now Hiring UK, Canadian, and Australian Writers
You may now be able to make money writing with Textbroker even if you’re not in the USA. Why? They’ve launched Textbroker UK.
I’ve always been a firm believer in having as many income ‘eggs’ as possible. So, I signed up for Textbroker US a few years ago and after I got accepted I realised that I could never work for them as I wasn’t in the USA. But effective today, Dec 1, 2011, Textbroker UK launches and offers other English writers an opportunity to write for cash online. Through the Textbroker UK portal, you can sign up, write a sample, and get approved for writing assignments with UK, Australian, and European clients.
Textbroker UK Facts:
- Your first sample receives a grade from 2 to 5, which will determine your rating and how much money you earn.
- Your rating can go up or down depending on performance
- You can write at your rating and for lower ratings
- There are direct order possibilities if Textbroker clients like your work and you can create a profile and have Textbroker clients choose you as well
- You can also set your price within their marketplace
- Pay for Textbroker UK is in Euros and is listed at once monthly via PayPal only. (If you need help setting up PayPal or want to understand how long it takes to do PayPal transfers I’ve got info on this blog: PayPal setup and PayPal transfer timeline). Minimum payout is 10 Euros and you need to request payout in their system.
How much does Textbroker UK Pay?
According to their website as of Dec 1, pay rates are:
Textbroker 2 Star – 3.5 Euro
Textbroker 3 Star – 4.5 Euro
Textbroker 4 Star – 6 Euros
Textbroker 5 Star – 20 Euros
My experience:
I applied last night and got accepted at a 4 star rating after writing 1 sample (120-250 word, unpaid but they don’t take the rights and don’t publish the sample). They reviewed my sample overnight. Will I write for them? I’ll definitely check out available topics and consider using them for gap-filling work.

3 Types of Freelance Writing Gigs and How to Find Them
Most freelance writers have several sources of writing work where they can get paid to write articles. Some are ongoing, some are one-off, and some are gap-fillers. All can be good. Read on for a bit about each of the above categories and how to go about getting those types of writing jobs.
- Ongoing
Finding regular writing clients can be a good thing. Do a good job and you might get ongoing writing work.
- One-Off Jobs
By marketing yourself, you can find writing jobs that are one-off scenarios. Someone might need a press release written, might decide that they want to write a new sales letter, want help re-vamping their website content, or want another freelance writing service. Marketing can help these clients find you.
- Gap fillers.
There are content companies and busy clients that may offer you an all-you-can-write buffet. Having a few of these eggs can be a good thing because you can make fast money writing when you need to up your earnings or when you have a gap in your schedule. You an also spend some of your gaps working at upping your passive income streams through writing for revenue sharing sites, such as InfoBarrel and HubPages, or through developing content for your own sites and blogs.
How to find Writing Gigs:
Find ongoing and one-off clients by marketing on an ongoing basis. Freelance writers who market can get found by clients and some of those clients could provide you with regular work.
In terms of gap fillers, sign up with a writing agency, start a profile on a freelance bidding site such as Elance, sign up with content companies such as Textbroker, Internet Brands, and Demand Studios so you can dive into one of these options as and when you need to.
Getting paid to write articles can be a business of feasts and famines. By diversifying your incoming writing work sources and by continually marketing yourself you can have a wide array of options available.
Examiner.com Now Accepting Canadian Writers
If you’re like most Canadian freelance writers, you know of more than one source of passive writing income that you can’t take advantage of because of lack of a social security number. Up until recently, Examiner.com was one of those scenarios. But Examiner recently launched a Canadian edition. I’m the new Coronation Street Canada Examiner.
About Examiner
Examiner is a site that presents information on many topics. Guides are experts in their topic who run their own Examiner website.
The Pay at Examiner
The Examiner pay structure is based on page views and a rate that’s not published but is a combination of several things including readership / popularity. I have read about Examiners making a few pennies a day to a few thousand dollars a month.
How does Examiner.com pay?
Examiner pays you monthly via Paypal. If you earn money in the month of November and hit their minimum threshold, you’ll be paid around December 20
There is a lot of debate on various sites about whether or not the site is worth the effort but I won’t knock it until I give it a fair shake. That’s why I chose a fun topic. The soap opera I chose to write about is something that I watch for 30 minutes weekdays so to sit and write a post or two while watching my favourite show as well as getting to chat to others about it really appeals to me. If I make money at it—fantastic!
